Alekšupīte River is a small river that runs through the Medieval Historical Centre of Kuldiga “Old Town”.
It is believed that the river may have gotten its name from the Greek “alex” meaning “to defend”. There are 16 bridges spanning Alekšupīte River in the city’s territory creating a picturesque city scenic view. The Pasta Street Bridge,
offers a great view of the view known as Kuldīga’s Venice.
